PETALING JAYA: Two huge reticulated pythons were unearthed at a construction site in Kampung Gong Nangka, Terengganu, on Thursday (Dec 9).

       The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (CDF) said workers at the site were shocked at the discovery and had called them in.

       "The pythons weighed in at 250kg and 100kg, respectively," the CDF said in a tweet Thursday.

       The 250kg reticulated python was about 5.8m long, while the other snake measured out at 4.2m.

       In photos shared in the tweet, CDF officers could be seen trapping the snakes and moving them into a vehicle to be transported away from the site.

       The reticulated python (Malayopython reticulatus) is the world’s longest snake native to South and South-East Asia.

       The non-venomous constrictor is hunted for its skin, sold as pets and used in traditional medicine.
