KUCHING: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Women's chief Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah has refuted a social media post claiming that she had revealed the names of women incumbents who will be dropped in the coming state election.

She said she did not mention any names during a Women's wing event in Serian on Tuesday (Nov 9).

"What I mentioned was that some incumbents had already said they would not be contesting due to health reasons.

"That was all I said, I did not say anything else," she told reporters at Wisma Wanita here on Wednesday (Nov 10), responding to a post on a Facebook page claiming that she had revealed the name of an incumbent to be dropped.

The post has since been taken down.

Fatimah said it was the prerogative of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg to decide on candidates for the coming polls.

"He will announce the candidate list in due course," she said.

On their preparations for the polls, Fatimah said they were focusing on ensuring that voters were familiar with the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), logo as this was the first time it would be used.

"This is something we have been doing since GPS was formed (in 2018). It's a new symbol so we need to introduce it to voters," she said.

Fatimah also said the standard operating procedures currently in place for the Melaka state election were likely to be used in Sarawak as well.

"Our final election preparations will have to be adjusted to comply with the SOP.

"We will also take local circumstances into consideration, such as whether a particular area has Internet access and who the voters are," she said.
