MUAR: Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) has made last minute changes to its Endau state seat candidate after their initial candidate tested positive for Covid-19.
In a statement, party information chief Ulya Aqamah Husamudin said its initial candidate Zaini Tahar had tested positive on Thursday (Feb 24), and he could not make it to the candidacy announcement event in Muar.
"Therefore, the top party leadership has decided to change our candidate for the Endau state seat to Mohd Noorhisyam Ibrahim," said Ulya Aqamah on Friday (Feb 25).
Pejuang had announced on Thursday (Feb 25) that it would be fielding a total of 42 candidates in the 56-seat state election.
Among them was its state party chief and Sri Gading MP Datuk Shahruddin Md Salleh who was expected to be in a five-cornered fight in the Machap state seat.
Others include Nornekman Osman, son of former Johor mentri besar Datuk Osman Sapian whose death on December 21 last year led to this state election.
Nornekman will stand in Kempas, a seat once held by his late father.
Nominations for the state elections would be held tomorrow while polling day would be on March 12.
