Police were called to Angus in Scotland where the incident took place. The incident occurred at around 1:10pm. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers received report of a man having been attacked by a dog in Kirkton of Auchterhouse around 1.10pm on Wednesday, 22 December, 2021.
“Emergency services attended, however, the 55-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
One witness told The Courier: "Four police vehicles were at the scene.
“Officers in a van and car were guarding the entrance to the kennels.
“Another two vehicles were in the property grounds.”
The 55-year-old man could not be saved from the attack.
The attack is understood to have taken place at a local kennel.

This kennel is situated in the Auchterhouse area of Angus.
It comes as a mother died in Wisconsin after saving her son, Damion, from an attack by the family pitbull.
Heather Pingel, 35, from Bowler, Wisconsin, needed both her arms amputated following the attack and was also left with kidney failure and lung damage.

Ms Pingel was rushed to Aspirus Wausau Hospital and sadly died from her injuries on December 16.
Shannon Pingel, Heather's sister, paid tribute following her sad death.
She said: “I just want people to know she died a hero.
"I hate that this happened, but I'm thankful she saved my nephew ... she is the best mom.
“She did everything for her babies.”
Shannon added: “If you saw Heather you saw the kids too, especially Damion.
“From the day he was born he was attached to mom's hip. Such a mommy's boy.
“She will always be our hero and will forever be missed.”
