AMPANG: A 39-year-old man has been detained for being drunk and disorderly and behaving aggressively towards police.

       The suspect also took out a pocket knife and threatened policemen at Ampang Jaya police headquarters.

       Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail said the incident occurred at about 8.10pm on Tuesday (Dec 12).

       "The man, who was drunk, approached the guardpost and acted aggressively.

       "Despite repeated warnings from police, the man took out a knife (and) was detained," he said in a statement on Friday (Dec 15).

       The suspect sustained a cut on his forehead as he repeatedly hit his head against the road while he was being handcuffed, he said.

       "He has five prior offences on his record.

       "We also seized the knife used by the suspect, and he has been remanded until Dec 19," ACP Mohd Azam said, adding that the matter is being investigated further.
