PETALING JAYA: Efforts are underway to converge resources among charity organisations to avoid food and supplies wastage at welfare homes, said Wanita MCA chief Datuk Heng Seai Kie.

       This can be done via a computerised system, she said, while adding that it was a private initiative.

       Heng noted that other than the convergence initiative, an intelligence sub-committee has been formed to create a directory of charity organisations.

       “The directory can be a reference for the public and donors to check and decide if a charity organisation is registered, well managed and worth supporting,” she added.

       Heng, who is chairman of the advisory board of the Be Good Do Good Association (BGDG), was at the association’s “A Time to Appreciate” virtual event on Saturday.

       Also present were BGDG Association founder and president Victor Ooi Boon Beng, other board members and fellow members.

       Heng, who was involved with BGDG even before its inception in 2019, said she was glad to witness its growth under Ooi’s leadership.

       “BGDG practises solidarity and inclusion of all nationalities, political beliefs, religions and others.

       “We have stayed true to our plan of getting involved in the key areas of charity, which are social welfare, economy, integration and education,” she said.Heng also lauded the association for collaborating with Wanita MCA’s Legal Services and Women’s Assistance (LAWA) initiative to champion the protection of vulnerable women and children who are victims of domestic violence and sexual harassment.
