Speaking to US Weekly, the co-founder of True Royalty TV explained how Princess Anne sits "at the heart of the "Royal Family" as a key source of strength and support for the Queen as well as other members of the family as they grieve the loss The Queen's consort of 73-years. He explained how Anne has spent "a lot more time" with the Queen since the Duke's passing in April and her bond with her mother has grown closer. Mr Bullen also explained how over the years Anne has established herself as a leading figure in the royal household through her hard work and sense of duty.

US Weekly host Joe Drake asked the royal expert if other members in the royal household have a good relationship with Princess Anne.

Mr Bullen replied: “Very much so.

“She is incredibly close to the Queen, obviously she is The Queens' only daughter."

Mr Bullen also revealed that according to his sources, since the Duke of Edinburgh has died, "she [Anne] and the Queen have spent a lot more time together."

The royal expert went on to explain how Anne has established a fundamental role within the royal family.

He said: “I suppose you can see the Queen had two sets of children: Anne and Charles are very close in age and then Andrew and Edward came later.

"There is this difference in age between them but she is very much at the heart of that family."

Mr Bullen highlighted how Anne, unlike other Princesses past and present, is unusual as she is a Princess by blood, but this has played into her favour and is at the heart of her success as a royal who has avoided controversy unlike others.

Mr Bullen noted: “The princesses that are perhaps best known in America whether it be Diana, Kate, or Megan or even Fergie.

"They are all women who married in and they weren’t blood princesses.

“[Anne] is a true blood princess and a bit like Princess Margaret.

"She is a fascinating character to delve into."

The expert added how Anne's success as a royal has been down to her belief that she sees herself as "nothing special" and that she is "just doing a job".

He said that Anne "is very much her fathers' daughter" and "she can’t quite understand why anybody would be interested in her".

He concluded: "She just gets on with the job, is not bothered whether she is on the front pages or not, she is not chasing fashion - she is wearing clothes she wore 30-years ago."

Princess Anne turns 71 years-old on August 15.
