KUALA LUMPUR: The Federal Court has fixed Jan 24 for case management in the appeal filed by Datuk Seri Najib Razak over the RM42mil SRC International Sdn Bhd case.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohd Ashrof Adrin Kamarul told the press the date was fixed by Federal Court deputy registrar Siti Hajar Mustaffa in an online proceedings via Zoom on Friday (Jan 7).
He said the court was informed that the appeal records for the main appeal had been completed.
However, the appeal records for Najib’s application pertaining to new evidence in the SRC International case, was not yet completed.
DPP Mohd Ashrof also said that Najib’s lead counsel Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah may seek an extension of time to view the record of appeal and file Najib's petition of appeal once he is served with the appeal records.
It is also yet to be decided whether the appeal to adduce the new evidence and the main appeal regarding Najib's conviction and sentence be heard together or separately.
On Dec 8, last year, the Court of Appeal affirmed the High Court’s conviction and sentence against Najib in the SRC International.
On July 28, 2020, High Court judge Justice Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali sentenced Najib to a total of 12 years' jail and a fine of RM210mil after finding him guilty of all seven charges in the case.
