A Naperville motorcyclist died Monday after colliding with an SUV at intersection of Washington Street and Royce Road, Naperville police said.
The 29-year-old motorcyclist, whose identity has not been released, was in the left turn lane on northbound Washington about 3:35 p.m. at the same time the 54-year-old Dodge Durango driver from Bolingbrook was turning east onto Royce Road from southbound Washington. The two vehicles collided in the intersection, police said.
Taken to Edward Hospital in Naperville, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead soon after arrival, reports said.
Accident investigators and traffic crash reconstruction specialists closed Washington Street from Boughton Road to Naper Boulevard for about five hours, police said.
The crash investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the police department’s traffic unit at 630-305-5477.
