PETALING JAYA: The Crisis Relief Squad of MCA (CRSM) and GoCare have launched the #BeMYHero CommunityCaring Project, which aims to raise funds for 2, 000 sets of dry food baskets for underprivileged families.
CRSM chair Datuk Natalie Lim Chong Ly said they hoped to get about RM100, 000 for this campaign, adding that each dry food basket known as the GoCare Caring Box is valued at RM50.
“GoCare upholds the principle that love and care must be spread to every corner.
“In this difficult period, our friends in need should not feel embarrassed to seek aid.
“We at GoCare will do our best to extend a helping hand, ” she said in a statement.
Lim said she had worked with Radio 988 and GoCare to supply
50 bags of rice and food items to a people’s housing project (PPR) in Bukit Jalil, adding that a vegetarian lunch box was also prepared through the SCK Kitchen mobile food truck.
Dry food baskets were also delivered to poor families in a Wangsa Maju village, she added.
“Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, CRSM and GoCare have never forgotten to look after vulnerable groups affected by the movement control order.
“Since MCO 1.0, CRSM’s branches in each state have been raising funds to purchase supplies such as dry foodstuff, fruits and vegetables and anti-infectious disease supplies.
“In giving aid to underprivileged groups, we have executed more than 4, 500 community care actions and distributed more than 25, 000 supplies to beneficiaries comprising various ethnic groups.
“CRSM has also joined hands with private enterprises to hand out meals to more than 100, 000 destitute families in various districts, ” she said.
Lim appealed to the public, businesses and manufacturers to join in GoCare’s Community Caring Project.
“Let us work together to create a more caring society, ” she added.
Lim noted that many enthusiastic people across the nation had demonstrated the spirit of showing kindness to those in need.
