Tory MP Iain Duncan Smith snapped as he discussed the difficulties facing schools during the coronavirus pandemic. While speaking on LBC, Mr Duncan Smith remarked that parents were being put under mass pressure due to their children being forced to isolate. He added that some schools were being brought to a near standstill due to multiple students needing to isolate.
Mr Duncan Smith said: "Yes, well, we know that the lateral flow test is a good indicator of whether you may have it.
"But it is also very flawed and gives some high readings on the negative side if it says you haven't got it when 50 percent will have it.
"All of that is a problem, that has become a madness really.
"Teachers don't know what to do, parents are having to give up work to go home suddenly at the drop of a hat, large numbers of parents.

"And whole schools are being brought almost to a standstill."
Mr Duncan Smith highlighted some recent statistics and the dangers for the children.
He said: "There was a report published yesterday by the Centre for Social Justice which I helped set up and Chair.
"That showed that almost 100,000 children have had more time off school than they have had in school.
"That is a desperate figure because many of these are in the most difficult circumstances.
"These are the children we used to call playing truant but they are the ones who will possibly end up in criminal activity and fodder for the gangs.
"This has got to stop, we have got to get this back, back to a balance where we can get children back to school.
"It is vital not just for their learning but also for their wellbeing and ability."
