OSAKA -- Universal Studios Japan (USJ) in this west Japan city has set up a Christmas tree for the first time in two years, and its Christmas events will continue until Jan. 10 next year.
USJ revealed the Christmas events to the media on Nov. 25, a day ahead of their launch. During the period, popular characters will dance around the tree.
Events feature characters from Sesame Street, Peanuts and Hello Kitty among other titles. At Super Nintendo World, which opened in March this year, winter-only goods can be purchased.
USJ's giant Christmas tree, adorned with numerous lights, had been a hot topic every year, but the amusement park did not set up a tree last year due to the coronavirus pandemic. This year's tree is smaller than usual, and its height and other features have not been disclosed. A person in charge of the park's public relations said, "We will hold a wide variety of Christmas events besides setting up the tree, and we want visitors to enjoy them while refraining from gathering in crowds."
