       Ontario is reporting 781 COVID-19 cases and 17 deaths from the virus today – figures that include earlier deaths and infections.

       Health Minister Christine Elliott says 634 of the infected people are not vaccinated or have unknown vaccination status.

       The province says 14 of the deaths reported Friday happened months ago and are being reported now after data-cleaning work.

       It also says 22 of the infections reported today are among long-term care workers and are not recent cases.

       There were 158 patients in intensive care due to COVID-related critical illness as of Friday, including 87 people on ventilators.

       Nearly 83 per cent of Ontario residents aged 12 and older have at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 75 per cent have received both shots.
