IPOH: The body parts found at Gunung Suku have been identified as belonging to two hikers reported missing recently, says Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid.

The Perak police chief said the confirmation came following a post-mortem at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital yesterday.

“Although we have found evidence showing the body parts belong to the missing hikers, we need a proper test to have a definitive answer and to find out the cause of death.

“Their relatives have yet to claim the bodies, and once we have received the details, we will share them with the public,” he told reporters after attending a blood donation drive at the Police Air Unit Training Base here.

Last Saturday, a search and rescue team found the body of the second female hiker near a tunnel at Jalan Simpang Pulai-Cameron Highlands at about 11.20am.

On May 16, the two hikers, identified as See Su Yen, 32, from Cheras, and Ng Yee Chew, from Klang, were reportedly swept away by a sudden gush of water while hiking along a trail at Gunung Suku.

Separately, Comm Mior urged cyclists to be more cautious on the Simpang Pulai-Cameron Highlands road following the death of a cyclist on Sunday.

“There is high traffic along the road, with cars and heavy vehicles coming up and down Cameron Highlands. Therefore, cyclists need to remember that they are not the only ones using the road.

“Cycling is a good hobby but cyclists need to check their bikes for roadworthiness,” he said.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Comm Mior said Foo Hua Bin, 34, was cycling down the slope from Cameron Highlands to Simpang Pulai before losing control and crashing at about 2.35pm.

Foo, who is an aide to an assemblyman and a former journalist, died at the scene from head injuries.
