A COUNCIL has been ridiculed for boasting about a new bin on social media.
Rochdale Borough Council proudly announced it had installed the black bin next to a bus stop to tackle litter.

The post provoked a hilarious response from residents who joked that the new bin would become a tourist attraction
But residents in Heywood, Greater Manchester joked under the Facebook post that it was like a new tourist attraction.
Stuart Pointon wrote: “Take that Paris, we’ve got a bin in Heywood.”
Ben Amin said: “That’s lovely. It’s like our very own Blackpool tower.”
James Chadwick added: “Never say RBC doesn’t push the boat out when it comes to spending money.”
More than 120 comments mocked the council.
John Noon even suggested they should pay more council tax “for this fantastic honour” while Elliot Hyndman hoped there would not be queues for it, adding: “I’d like to see the bin in person.”

Mr Amin even had his picture taken next to the bin. He wrote: “Finally got to meet the new bin.
“Thanks Rochdale Council for making this happen. One bin is just what we needed, especially with the winter season approaching.”
