KOTA KINABALU: Road users whose vehicles were damaged by sharp objects allegedly placed on the roads by street children are urged to lodge police reports immediately.

Kota Kinabalu OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zaidi Abdullah said police have not received any such reports from victims so far despite an incident going viral on social media recently.

He said those with information on the matter are also urged to come forward and assist the probe.

“Our team has launched a hunt for the children seen in the viral video, but we have not managed to find them yet,” he said in a statement Friday (April 22).

ACP Zaidi said policemen have also gone to the location in the viral video to search for any sign of the sharp objects as well.

Patrols and operations on roads in the city are also being conducted as a follow-up to the case, he said.

“Action will be taken against anyone who breaks the law, including those disrupting traffic,” ACP Zaidi added.

Those with information that could help in the case are asked to contact the city police at 088-529 222.

In a widely circulated video shared over the past few days, street children could be seen throwing what is believed to be nails or screws on the road in the city.

Many have taken to social media to urge the authorities to take action.
