SUBANG JAYA: A newborn baby boy was found wrapped in a black plastic bag behind a row of terrace houses at Taman Puchong Indah.
Deputy Subang Jaya OCPD Supt Mohd Fairus Jaafar said police received a call from a man who found the baby at 9.24pm on Thursday (May 5).
"The baby was covered in blood and still had its umbilical cord attached.
"We believe the baby was born less than 24 hours prior to it being discovered," he said in a statement on Friday (April 6).
He said initial investigations revealed the area was dark and bushy and it was only discovered by the man after he heard its cries.
"The baby has been sent to the Serdang Hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.
"Checks from the doctor revealed the baby weighed 2.185kg and did not suffer any injury," he said.
He said the baby was now being treated at the special care nursery at the hospital.
"We have classified the case as hiding a birth with intent to dump a baby.
"Those with information on the case should contact Insp Nor Adilah Rosli at 016-687 3616 or the Subang Jaya police control centre at 03-5621 0343," he said, adding that the identity of any informant would be kept strictly confidential.
