JOHOR BARU: PKR and the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) should iron out their strained relationship before nomination day for the state polls, says Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo.
"I think there is still time to discuss the strategies to make sure there are no seat clashes between us," he said.
The DAP deputy chairman said this when met after visiting Datuk Hajah Hasnah People’s Housing Project (PPR) with incumbent Stulang assemblyman Andrew Chen Kah Eng here on Sunday (Feb 20).
On Saturday (Feb 19), PKR officially announced all of its 20 candidates for the Johor election, closing the door on any further seat negotiation with Muda.
Johor PKR chief Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh also had said discussions with Muda had been finalised.
“We went through a series of discussions (with Muda) and offered them some seats. We gave them time to consider but when we heard remarks by (Muda president) Syed Saddiq (Syed Abdul Rahman), we considered that to be the end of it," added Syed Ibrahim.
Syed Ibrahim was speaking to the press after the announcement of the seven candidates for the state’s east and central regions.
On Friday (Feb 18), Syed Saddiq said Muda might be contesting against PKR if seat negotiations between the two parties fail.
Nominations for the Johor state election has been set for Feb 26 and polling is set for March 12.
