Two Johor assemblymen will not defend seats if state polls called

       JOHOR BARU: Johor executive councillor Mazlan Bujang will not be defending his state assembly seat if polls are called.

       Speaking on this, the former Johor Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia chief Mazlan Bujang said he has no regrets and plans to retire.

       Asked about the timing of the elections, the Johor education, information, heritage and culture committee chairman, said it was the prerogative of the mentri besar and the state's Ruler

       Asked about the party's preparation for the elections when met at an event on Thursday (Jan 20), Mazlan said that he is not active in Bersatu.

       "I am not the chief as Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is the head," he added.

       Bersatu presently has five exco members, and four have voiced their objections against having the state elections at this juncture.

       Meanwhile in another issue, DAP's Yong Peng assemblyman Chew Peck Choo also announced her retirement in a Facebook post on Thursday.

       She said she has been contesting since 2013, has been an assemblywoman for two terms and now wants to devote her time to her family.

       "I decided to announce it today as its my 28th wedding anniversary," she said.
