KLUANG: Police have identified the organiser and the owner of the premises where a political party held an event near here.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Low Han Seng said the 15-second video went viral on Monday (March 7) after it was uploaded on the Facebook page of "Malaysia Negara Ku".

"The video showed a gathering organised by the political party," he said in a statement.

He said the event was believed to have taken place at Kampung Masjid Lama near here on Saturday (March 5) at around 9pm.

ACP Low said those attending the event had violated the standard operation procedures (SOP).

"They failed to practise social distancing imposed by the authorities," he said.

ACP Low said that police would contact the organiser and the owner of the premises to appear at the Kluang police district headquarters to assist with investigations.

He said the case is being investigated under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases 2021.

"We would like to advise all political parties and their supporters to comply with the SOP to prevent the outbreak of Covid-19 when organising programmes," said ACP Low.

He said police would not hesitate to take stern action against those found deliberately disobeying the SOP imposed by authorities.

ACP Low said any complaints or information related to the Johor state election can be submitted to the nearest police station or contact the Kluang police district headquarters at 07-778 4222; direct line (07-778 4256); and hotline (07-776 6822).
