KLUANG: Not many eligible voters are excited to return to Johor to cast their ballot in the ongoing state election, says Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein (pic).

Hishammuddin said this was based on a preliminary report he received on Friday (March 11).

"I haven’t received the full report but from the (information) I received, not many are excited to come back.

"But that is their right, we cannot force them," he told reporters when met at the Sekolah Agama Taman Sri Lambak polling centre on Saturday (March 12) morning.

Hishammuddin said the Johor polls would be concluded by Saturday night and he hoped whoever was elected would fulfil their responsibilities to the voters.

"Especially the ones who get elected in Paloh and Kahang. These state seats are under Sembrong," said Hishammuddin, who is Sembrong MP.

Earlier, Hishammuddin and his wife Datin Seri Tengku Marsilla Tengku Abdullah cast their ballots at the centre.

Many excited locals were seen approaching Hishammuddin for a selfie.

Hishammuddin also said he had not received any reports of untoward incidents and everything went smoothly as campaigning ended on Friday night.

"This is important because in the democratic process, we must allow everyone to fulfil their responsibilities as voters," he said.

       Polling closes at 6pm Saturday.
