JOHOR BARU: Vaccinated Johoreans are looking forward to the reopening of certain activities and businesses under Phase One of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) from today.
Groom-to-be Khairuddin Nordin, 30, said he and his fiancee heaved a sigh of relief after jewellery stores were included in the list of businesses permitted to operate.
“We were quite frustrated previously as our wedding preparations hit a roadblock when many businesses were closed and my future wife had to purchase some of her jewellery online.
“The reopening of certain businesses is good news for us and since my fiancee is already fully vaccinated, she can head to the jewellery store soon to complete our checklist before the wedding in mid-September,” said the administrative assistant.
It was reported that the government has allowed 11 economic activities in states under Phase One of the NRP.
Under the list released yesterday, those who wish to use the businesses must have completed their vaccination regimen.
Construction worker Ngoi Swee Bin, 25, who has received his first vaccine shot, said he looked forward to sending his car for a wash soon but would do it with caution.
“I started washing my car at home with water and a cloth.
“The exterior is clean but the interior is still quite dirty because I do not want to spend on a vacuum cleaner just to let it go to waste when car wash services reopen,” he said.
“While I am glad to send my car for a wash soon, I will still keep in mind the necessary safety measures including sanitising my car keys when it is handed back to me after the wash.”
Retiree Agnes Lee, 60, who has completed her two-dose vaccination in July, hopes to head to the electronics store soon to purchase a new television.
“A thunderstorm last week left my TV damaged, so my husband and I are quite bored at home with no entertainment.
“My children offered to purchase a new TV through an e-commerce platform but I am old-school and prefer looking for the set and making the purchase in person,” she said.
