King Charles is attending the Braemar Gathering today in honour of his late mother Queen Elizabeth who rarely missed the event that took place near her Scottish hideaway Balmoral Castle.
The Royal Family started attending the games during the reign of Queen Victoria, who also purchased Balmoral with her husband Prince Albert.
The Queen was regularly pictured enjoying the event alongside the then Prince Charles and others.
Charles was regularly spotted at the event alongside his mother, with the Royal Family currently seeing out their summer holidays at Balmoral Castle.
The visit coincides with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak visiting Balmoral - another tradition set out by the late Queen.

Queen Elizabeth would invited the Prime Minister to Scotland for a weekend in summer during her reign.
Her last visit before her death on September 8, 2022, was with then leader Liz Truss who met the Queen in the green drawing room at the royal estate.
This occasion marked the then monarch's final ever public picture.
The Braemar Gathering is taking place today at The Princess Royal and Duke of Fife Memorial Park, with numerous games being held including racing, throwing, putting, dancing, running and a tug-of-war.

There has been speculation as to whether or not the Prince and Princess of Wales will also make an appearance.
The couple are spending time at Balmoral with their three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis ahead of their return to school.
It marks their first trip to the Scottish castle as a family since the Queen died at the residence last year.
Prince William was spotted alongside his grandmother at the event in 2005. However, Kate is yet to make an appearance at the Games.
