KUALA LUMPUR: Police have crippled a criminal gang that had stolen motorcycles before selling it for a profit.
Sentul OCPD Asst Comm Beh Eng Lai, in a statement Friday (March 25), said that raids on March 23 led to the arrest of six members of the "Jojo Gang", all aged between 26 and 36 years old.
"Twelve motorcycles were recovered, with two reportedly missing. Also among the seized items were a bag with 12 sets of numbers and a letter puncher.
"Investigations showed that the gang had been active since the middle of last year and they targeted high-value motorcycles.
"They would change the chassis and engine numbers of the motorcycles before selling it.
"With the arrest of these six suspects, the Sentul police have solved 12 stolen motorcycle cases within the district," ACP Beh said.
All suspects were found to have prior criminal records and all have been remanded until March 27 to assist in investigations.
