CHIBA -- A municipal government worker was arrested on the spot on Aug. 17 for driving under the influence of alcohol after colliding with two trucks, police said.
Arrested was Kazunori Ono, a 60-year-old accounting supervisor of the Sodegaura Municipal Government in Chiba Prefecture.
Ono, a resident of the Yoshinoda neighborhood of the prefectural city of Sodegaura, is accused of driving a passenger car while under the influence of alcohol in violation of the Road Traffic Act, on a prefectural road near his home at around 12:40 p.m. on Aug. 17. Police said he has admitted to the allegations.
According to the Chiba Prefectural Police's Kisarazu Police Station, Ono caused an accident when he was about to enter a prefectural road and collided with a large dump truck and a medium-sized truck. A police officer who arrived at the scene administered a breathalyzer test, which indicated that Ono was intoxicated.
