KUALA LUMPUR: One of the policemen detained for having a party at a police station in Kajang tested positive for drugs, says Bukit Aman Integrity and Standard Compliance Department (JIPS) director Comm Datuk Azri Ahmad.

       He said the police station chief (OCS) tested positive for consuming ganja after an initial urine test was conducted.

       "The sample will be sent for further testing and if it turns out positive as well, he will be prosecuted. The policeman has since been pulled from active duty," he said when contacted on Thursday (July 22).

       Kajang police will investigate the violation of Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) and whether there was any criminal element involving the four policemen and four others, who were partying at the police station, he added.

       "JIPS will investigate the four policemen for misconduct and violations of regulations of public servants. Action will be taken without fear or favour," Comm Azri said.

       He added that the police will not compromise in taking action against police personnel or officers who are involved in wrongdoings or crimes.

       "The bad apples in the police force are only a minority. They will not be protected, instead stern action will be taken against them. The raid on the police station was possible due to information from the public.

       "Rest assured such information will be acted upon," he added.

       Bukit Aman JIPS arrested four policemen and four civilians after discovering a "private party" inside a police station in Kajang on Tuesday.

       Those arrested are aged between 21 and 37 and were arrested as they were in the midst of partying.

       JIPS also seized various items including alcohol bottles, disco lights and a sound system during the raid at the police station.

       The case is currently being investigated under Section 269 of the Penal Code for committing a negligent act likely to spread infection of any disease dangerous to life.
