IPOH: A total of 60 bikers from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and Tourism Perak have hit the trail to promote awareness about corruption and the need for integrity.

       State housing, local government and tourism committee chairman Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohamed Radzi said the convoy was part of the MACC Tourism Integrity Tour Programme 2.0.

       She said this was the second such effort by Perak MACC officers to create awareness on the importance of integrity after a similar programme last year.

       “We will be promoting the Perak bikers as a new tourism product,” she said at the flag-off ceremony at the state MACC building here on Wednesday (March 23).

       Present at the event were MACC Perak director Datuk Mohd Fauzi Mohamad and Tourism Perak chief executive officer Nurmalis Musa.

       Nolee added that the two-day ride would see the convoy pass through tourist spots in Tanjung Malim, Kampar, Lenggong and Royal Belum in Gerik.

       “Biking has become a favourite pastime, and the trend shows that there are more people getting involved in such a hobby to tour places of interest in a group.

       “With Perak having so many unique and interesting places to visit, the state government has set up signboards and brochures along the trail," added Nolee.

       She also said there were many non-commercial and less known places of interest to be found along the route.

       Nolee said several motorcycle clubs involving thousands of participants from countries like Singapore, Thailand, Brunei and Indonesia had taken part in a bike week programme in 2017 with the support of Tourism Perak.

       “We hope our goal of getting more tourists to travel via the bike trail as well as the MACC’s objective of enhancing the culture of anti-corruption in people's daily lives is warmly received," she added.
