JOHOR BARU: A total of 157 people were slapped with compound notices totalling RM157,000 for violating standard operating procedures (SOPs) under the National Recovery Plan (NRP) at an entertainment centre in Taman Molek and Taman Johor Jaya, here.
Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said all of the individuals were issued with a compound notice after a raid by the police under Ops Noda at about 12.15am on Saturday (Jan 1).
"Investigations show that both premises have failed to issue a licence to operate during Phase 4 of the NRP, which is a clear violation of the SOP.
"The individuals comprised 143 customers, two premise caretakers, and 12 workers, including 16 foreign nationals, all aged between 16 and 66," he said in a statement.
He added that two teenagers, both male and female, aged 16, were also issued with a compound notice.
"The foreigners were arrested and handed over to the Immigration Department to check their passport validation," he added.
The case was being investigated under Section 6(2) of the Johor Entertainment and Places of Entertainment Enactment and Regulation 17(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2021 for violating the SOP.
It was also being investigated under Section 269 of the Penal Code for a negligent act that could spread infectious disease, as well as Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/1963 for travelling without documents.
