A motorcyclist was fatally injured Monday night in a traffic collision in Southeast Washington, the D.C. police said.

       Ralphiel Dawkins, 39, of Southeast, was going north in the 4300 block of Bowen Road SE about 8 p.m. when his motorcyle ran into the passenger side of a car that was going south in the 4400 block of Bowen, the police said.

       The collision occurred at Bowen and Ridge Roads, the police said. Dawkins was taken to a hospital after being thrown from the motorcycle. He died on Tuesday, police said.

       It was not clear why the vehicles collided. Police said the motorcycle was going fast and its headlight was not on. They said they are investigating.
