It would mean the SNP would be left with no constituency MSPs across Glasgow with the seats all going to Labour, according to analysis by Ballot Box Scotland.

Former Scottish first ministers Ms Sturgeon and Mr Yousaf are MSPs for Glasgow Southside and Glasgow Pollok respectively.

The ex-SNP leaders would be forced to rely on the regional vote system to win seats.

And in the Westminster voting intention, Sir Keir Starmer's party beats the SNP for the first time in research by the company with 37 percent to 33 percent.

It comes after a tumultuous period for the SNP following Ms Sturgeon's shock resignation last year with a police probe into the party's finances.

John Swinney took over from Mr Yousaf earlier this month after the collapse of a power-sharing deal with the Scottish Greens.
