MELAKA: A 66-year-old man lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the seating area of a busy tom yam restaurant at Jalan Hang Li Poh here.

       Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Christopher Patit said the 7.15pm incident on Thursday, left six people injured, including two children.

       He said the crash appeared to be accidental, but police are still investigating what had caused the man to abruptly accelerate his vehicle.

       “The injured were sent to the Melaka Hospital for treatment, and all of them sustained only minor injuries. The injured patrons were from Johor and Penang,” he said yesterday.

       ACP Christopher added the driver of the car was unscathed in the incident.
