Sturgeon shamed for 'throwing Scottish people under the bus' amid independence obsession

Comedian Leo Kearse has attacked Nicola Sturgeon for putting her obsession with independence above the health of the Scottish people. Speaking on GB News, Mr Kearse said that the "SNP has been an absolute disaster for Scotland". This comes after the Scottish government were forced to ask the Ministry of Defence for military help to prop up the country's ambulance service.

Mr Kearse told a GB News panel: "The SNP has been an absolute disaster for Scotland, particularly in health.

"There was the children's hospital, that only opened recently, that was years late and millions of pounds over budget.

"Drug deaths have ballooned in Scotland. They are three and a half times higher than anywhere else in Europe.

"It is ridiculous. We are losing so many people to heroin and fentanyl and drug abuse."

The outspoken Scottish comedian railed against Nicola Sturgeon's history of harming Scottish people.

He said: "Sturgeon of course bungled the vaccine rollout and she had to ask Westminster for help in that.

"And she asked for it too late, as she has done with the ambulance service.

"She always treats these things as a political football and throws Scottish people under the bus, rather than admit defeat and admit she actually needs the union's help."

Ms Sturgeon has blamed the current crisis in Scotland's health services on the Covid pandemic.

Opposition politicians have highlighted a series of serious ambulance delays, including one where a man died after a 40-hour wait.

A new report published earlier this week showed patients in Scotland have been waiting for an average of six hours before being transported to the hospital.

The health secretary Humza Yousaf said on Wednesday that people should “think twice” before calling for an ambulance - sparking a furious response from the opposition.

The Conservative leader, Douglas Ross, criticised Mr Yousaf’s comments as “dangerous and reckless”.

The crisis had GB News commentator Calvin Robinson question the SNP's desires for independence in light of the party's failure to address the pressures on the NHS independently.
