COMEDIAN Lan Pet Pet, 52, has started a fresh career as a special assistant at a law firm in Alor Setar after taking months to prepare for his new job, reported Harian Metro.

The Senario comedy group member, whose real name is Mazlan Ahmad, said he took seven months just to learn the ethics of dressing, speaking and conducting himself in court.

“I have now graduated after the training. Wednesday was my first day as a special assistant for a law firm,” he said.

If he gets an offer to portray a lawyer in a film or drama after this, Lan Pet Pet said he will definitely not refuse as he will now be able to fully empathise with the character.

“I have watched a lot of movies, especially Bollywood productions, about life stories or those related to lawyers in court and it got me interested in playing a lawyer,” he said.

Lawyer Datuk Dr Aswandi Hashim, of Aswandi Hashim & Co, said Mazlan had utilised the seven months well to adapt to his new job.

He revealed that they have been friends since childhood but were not in contact for the past 25 years due to them being busy with their careers.

“At this stage, Mazlan is considered to have passed, but I have given him a one-year contract to delve deeper into the inner workings of the legal world,” he said.

       > Since he was eight, Port Dickson teenager Muhammad Amirul Rashid has been dressing up in a Jalur Gemilang costume and decorating his bicycle with the flags every National Day, reported Utusan Malaysia.

The 15-year-old said he felt proud each time he put on the Jalur Gemilang costume sewn by his mother Siti Hajar Mohd Yusop, 52.

“At night, I would ride my decorated bicycle and play patriotic songs to show my love for the country,” he said, adding that many came to take pictures with him as a memento.

He said 30 pieces of the Jalur Gemilang flag had been used to decorate his outfit and bicycle.

“I plan to take this bicycle to a public location on the eve of National Day. It will be different this year as I will need to practise physical distancing,” he said.

The boy added that people had given him money for his show of patriotism.

“I found it funny because I did not do it to collect donations,” he said.

       > The same daily also reported about a civil servant using the excuse that he had fought with his wife to justify to religious authorities why he spent the night at his girlfriend’s place in Teluk Bagan, Tandop, Kedah, on Wednesday.

The 35-year-old father of three and his 29-year-old girlfriend, also a civil servant, were nabbed by Kedah Islamic Religious Department (JAIK) for being in close proximity at the house.

JAIK enforcement division assistant director Sheikh Radzi Abdul Mutalib said they were caught at 12.10am following a tip-off from the public.

He added that the man was in the process of divorcing his wife while the woman is single.
