Chicago Heights police are investigating the shooting death Saturday of a 36-year-old resident.
Police said that Jamel McDowell was found at 208th Street and Western Avenue suffering from multiple gunshot wounds after police responded to a report of shots fired.
He was taken by paramedics to Franciscan St. James Hospital in Olympia Fields, and was pronounced dead at 3:30 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner. His death was ruled a homicide.
Police said they are being assisted in the investigation by the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force, and ask anyone with information to call Chicago Heights investigators at 708-756-6422.
