KUALA LUMPUR: Straits Energy Resources Bhd’s 70% indirect subsidiary Straits CommNet Solutions Sdn Bhd has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Edgepoint Towers Sdn Bhd.

       In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Straits Energy said the MoU was to collaborate and participate in the vast business opportunities of the 4G and 5G as well as private network rollout, digital transformation and 4.0 aspiration which include the oil and gas, port management and transportation industry.

       EdgePoint Towers is the operating entity of EdgePoint Group in Malaysia, servicing the telecommunications infrastructure needs of mobile network operators with more than 800 towers, holding both NFP (network facilities provider) and NSP (network services provider) licences.

       Edgepoint Malaysia Holdings Sdn Bhd is the sole shareholder of EdgePoint Towers.

       “We look forward to working very closely with EdgePoint, which is making substantial progress in driving the expansion of next-generation connectivity solutions for telecommunications network providers across the Asean region.

       Through this collaboration, Straits CommNet will be the solution and

       equipment provider to complement EdgePoint’s telecommunication infrastructure offerings in Malaysia and regionally,” Straits CommNet chief executive officer Sunny Ho Khin Choy said in a statement.

       Meanwhile, EPT chief executive officer Muniff Kamaruddin said modernising and future-proofing the various industrial sectors is an extensive endeavour that offers broad opportunities for businesses and entities keen to pursue the vast possibilities.

       “EdgePoint is ready to optimise our next-generation infrastructure to achieve mutual goals with Straits CommNet,” he added.
