ALOR SETAR: Six suspects, including three policemen, have been arrested for allegedly stealing a safe containing about RM400,000 from the office of a logistics company here.
State police chief Comm Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said the company owner lodged a report over the incident, which occurred at about 1.30am on Wednesday.
He said the suspects, aged between 21 and 50, were arrested on the same day in several areas around Alor Setar, adding that two more suspects were still at large.
“The six have been remanded until July 1 under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code to assist in investigations.
“So far, some RM200,000 has been recovered and police are tracing the remaining money,’’ he said.
Comm Kamarul Zaman said the case would be investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to 14 years, a fine and whipping, upon conviction.
