KAJANG: Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin and Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani paid their last respects to the late Sjn Mohd Arifah Md Yassin and the late Kons Mohd Muradzi Mohd Nawi at the Kajang district police headquarters’ Al-Amin Mosque.

       Among others present were Federal Management director Comm Datuk Zaini Jass, Traffic Investigation and Enforcement director Comm Datuk Azisman Alias, Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed and Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zaid Hassan.

       The two policemen were involved in an accident while pursuing a suspected street racer on the Silk Highway at about 1.30am on Sunday.

       The police were conducting Ops Samseng Jalanan on the highway to clamp down on mat rempit.

       Hamzah said the police would take stern action to ensure justice was served for the families of both policemen.

       ACP Mohd Zaid said the two policemen were on their motorcycles, chasing after suspected illegal racers when assisting in the operation.

       “At KM24.4 of the highway, the policemen crashed into each other.

       “The area is a hotspot for illegal racing,” he said in a statement.

       Both policemen were from the Kajang district police headquarters.
