PETALING JAYA: Police netted drugs with a street value of RM3.89mil following arrests of members of two drug syndicates.

In an online press conference Tuesday (Aug 17), Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed said the first group was busted on Aug 6, where seven people were arrested in Batu Caves, Gombak and Selayang.

"During the arrest of two suspects in a housing area in Batu Caves, police recovered 97 packages that contained around 100.74kg of suspected methamphetamine.

"Out of the seven suspects arrested, aged between 26 and 48 years old, five had prior police records. Of those arrested, three tested positive for drugs," he said, adding among the assets seized were four cars.

In the second round of arrests, narcotics police arrested 10 suspects following raids in Ampang and Penang.

"Around 7.35kg of suspected methamphetamine was seized at a carpark in Ampang. A total of 10 people aged between 27 and 65 years old were caught.

"Seven cars with a total value of RM495,000 were seized, along with RM346,180 from bank accounts," he said.

Seven of the suspects were found to have prior police records, but Comm Arjunaidi said both groups had no links to one another.

All suspects have been remanded for seven days.
