SHAH ALAM: Nine policemen in Selangor have succumbed to Covid-19 since March last year.
Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed (pic) said those who passed away were eight from the rank and file, and one officer.
“Three family members of police in Selangor also passed away due to the virus. Since March last year, 910 police and their family members have tested positive while 4,332 had to undergo quarantine,” he told reporters at the Selangor police headquarters yesterday.
He said as at Sunday, 331 police were under quarantine after they tested positive for the virus.
“At the same time, 312 others were ordered to undergo quarantine as close contacts.
“As at Sunday, we also issued 2,063 compound notices for various violations of the standard operating procedure,” he added.
The top three offences were inter-district or interstate travel without permission, failure to register before entering a premises, and not observing physical distancing.
Comm Arjunaidi advised the public to comply with the SOP to flatten the curve of infections.
