PETALING JAYA: US Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimonda’s visit to Malaysia will strengthen the two countries' bilateral ties, says the US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.
The embassy has extended a warm welcome to Secretary Raimando, who arrives in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday (Nov 18).
“Secretary Gina M. Raimondo's visit will build on our already strong US-Malaysia relationship," it said.
“Secretary Raimondo's visit to Malaysia is part of a trip to the Indo-Pacific region to reaffirm our commitment and strengthen our economic relationship with allies and key partners,” the embassy added in a Facebook post on Thursday.
It said that during her visit, Secretary Raimondo will meet with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa, as well as leaders of the semiconductor industry in Malaysia.
Secretary Raimondo’s trip to the Indo-Pacific region from Nov 15-18 intends to discuss key areas of supply chain resilience, digital economy and technology, common standards, and supporting regional infrastructure projects with government leaders and private sector partners.
