PETALING JAYA: The Mentris Besar and Chief Ministers Meeting, which also involved members of the Cabinet, shows that the relationship between the state and Federal governments can be strengthened for the good of the people, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
"In today's meeting, it was decided that state governments should give priority to and speed up approval for land acquisition requests for federal projects.
"As per the Prime Minister's earlier statement, the alignment-related projects should be approved through reservation, while those meant for operations centres, offices or stations should be approved through vesting.
"What is important is that today's meeting showed that the relationship between the Federal and state governments can be strengthened, and we can work together for the betterment of the people and country as a whole," he said in a Facebook post on Tuesday (March 8).
He added that the government is focusing on high-impact infrastructure projects such as the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) and the Kota Bharu-Kuala Krai Highway.
Earlier on Tuesday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the government was responsible for providing quality infrastructure for all Malaysians to stimulate the country's economic growth.
However, he said that land acquisition issues had caused delays in government projects, which inadvertently had financial implications.
