It reached well into the 80s Saturday! Enjoyable? Too much? Temperatures broke the previous record (83 degrees from 1984) at Dulles Airport with at least 86 degrees there. National (DCA) Airport has reached at least 85 degrees but is still shy of the 87-degree record from 1919 — the same stat as BWI airport, which is unlikely to reach that threshold. Warmth recedes tomorrow, away from records.

Through Tonight: Evening 70s only slowly decline into somewhat muggy upper 50s to mid-60s for pre-dawn low temperatures. It’s possible we set a record for a warm overnight low reading. Skies turn cloudier with time and by late evening into the early morning hours we could see a quick shower, sprinkle or even a couple patches of fog. East-northeast breezes could gust near 15 mph by dawn.

Tomorrow (Sunday): Temperatures begin to ease slightly — only topping out near 70 to mid-70s — due to clouds thickening and increasing chances for raindrops. A cold front is slowly approaching from our northwest. Any showers don’t really add up to much in the way of measurable rain. You may only need a small umbrella — perhaps the highest chances for getting wet are midday as it looks now. Geographically, northern parts of our region may have a slightly favored chance for rain. It’s still humid, with moist easterly winds under 15 mph.
Overnight, clouds and shower chances still don’t add up to much if any beneficial rains. Low temperatures still give us one last abnormally mild night, in the upper 50s to mid-60s. Breezes may stay light and variable in direction.
