PETALING JAYA: A total of six rivers in five states have exceeded the danger level following continuous rain over the past few days.

       As of 6pm yesterday, another four rivers in four states have also exceeded the warning level, with Pahang having the highest number of “danger” and “warning” locations.

       Based on data from the publicinfobanjir.water.gov.my, Pahang’s Sungai Keratong at Jalan Kota Bahagia, Rompin hit 12.47m, above the danger level of 11m, while Sungai Rompin at Jambatan Kuantan/Segamat, Rompin reached 11.14m, exceeding the danger level of 9.5m.

       A river that rose above warning levels in Pahang are Sungai Belat in Sri Damai, Kuantan.

       In Johor, Sungai Muar at Jeti Kampung Tekam, Segamat reached 3.14m, exceeding the danger level of 3m.

       A river that rose above warning levels in Johor was Sungai Bekok Bandar Yong Peng, Batu Pahat.

       In Kedah, Sungai Anak Bukit at Jambatan TAR Kota Setar reached 1.47m, exceeding the danger level of 1.7m.

       In Sarawak, the Tamin river in Sibu reached 8.69m, exceeding the danger level of 8.5m.

       Rising above the warning level was Sungai Salim B, Sibu.

       In Sabah, Sungai Kinabatangan in Barek Manis Kinabatangan reached 6.95m, exceeding the danger level of 6.5m.

       In Terengganu, Sungai Terengganu at Jambatan Kuala Berang, Hulu Terengganu rose above the warning level.

       Meanwhile, there were 280 flood victims at six temporary relief centres (PPS) in Johor, Pahang and Sabah as of 4pm yesterday.

       According to the latest report from the National Disaster Control Centre, National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma), 80 victims from 22 families in Johor are sheltering at three PPS, 65 victims from 19 families at two PPS in Segamat, and 15 victims from three families at one PPS in Batu Pahat.

       In Pahang, there are 101 victims from 34 families at one PPS in Rompin, and 99 victims from 42 families at two PPS in Beluran, Sabah.

       Nadma also said 17 roads were closed due to floods, damaged bridges or landslides, including Jalan Durian Mentangau in Dungun, Terengganu; Jalan Sungai Tiang in Baling, Kedah; and Jalan Petri Jaya in Kota Tinggi, Johor.
