A Hamas commander who was in charge of rocket attacks fired from central Gaza has reportedly been killed by an Israeli warplane.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed Hatem Alramery, the head of Hamas' "Emergency Bureau" in the central refugee camps was killed on Monday night.

The IDF has repeatedly claimed Hamas officials were operating from within refugee camps around Gaza.

It claims Alramery was killed when fighter jets conducted a series of planned and targeted airstrikes across the Strip, reports The Sun.

The strike was announced just hours after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed fresh plans to attack Rafah.

It came as Hamas reportedly rejected the terms of a ceasefire put forward by Israel. The group however said it would consider working further with mediators.

As well as reportedly heading up the "Emergency Bureau" in the central refugee camps, the IDF said Alramery"served as a Hamas military wing operative in the field of projectile launches within the Maghazi Battalion".

It is the second high-profile Hamas member the IDF has reportedly killed this month.

Merely days ago, Israel took out Marwan Issa, one of the henchmen of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.

Issa, known as the "Shadow Man" had been sitting at the top of the IDF's most wanted hit list.

He served as the deputy commander of the Hamas military wing, answering directly to Sinwar.

He died alongside Ghazi Abu Tamaa, another top Hamas official.

The Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry claims at least 33,207 people have died in Gaza since it launched a surprise attack on Israel on October 7.

Hamas own assault saw over 1,200 people killed and hundreds more captured.
