IPOH: The Ipoh City Council cleaned up 11 tons of rubbish from a terrace house in Taman Cempaka after complaints that the occupant had been hoarding rubbish.

Ipoh Mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin said it took the workers over an hour to carry out the cleaning job on Friday (March 29).

He said the house belonged to a 74-year-old woman who did not stay there but collected the items and left them there.

“The work started at about 9am, and the compound was cleared by approximately 10am.

“Notices had been issued to the house owner twice, which were pasted on the gate, requesting that the premises be cleaned, but the person had failed to do so.

“The homeowner was issued a RM500 compound,” he said in a statement on Saturday (March 30).

“All the rubbish removed from the premises was put into a lorry and taken to the council's solid waste disposal site in Lahat,” he added.
