PETALING JAYA: Berjaya Corp Bhd has divested three non-core businesses for a cumulative value of over RM263mil, in line with its three-year plan to focus on its core businesses.
In a statement yesterday, Berjaya Corp said its unit Berjaya Fintech Sdn Bhd (BFintech) had disposed off a 30% stake in Razer Fintech Holdings Pte Ltd to Razer Midas Pte Ltd for US$53.57mil (about RM223.89mil).
Following the disposal, BFinTech holds a 19% stake in Razer Fintech.
Berjaya Corp also sold its entire stake of 70% in Berjaya China Motor Sdn Bhd for a cash consideration of about RM13.28mil.
Its printing business, Graphic Press Group Sdn Bhd, was also disposed of for about RM26.1mil.
Berjaya Corp CEO Jalil Rasheed said the divestments in Razer Fintech and Berjaya China Motor, as well as the closure of Graphic Press, would allow the group to focus on higher growth opportunities across its core businesses.
“And in the case of Razer, it was especially appealing as we had a significant return on our investment in a relatively short time,” he said.
