KOTA KINABALU: Although it intends to spread its wings across the South China Sea, Parti Warisan Sabah has dismissed claims that the party is planning to contest all seats in Peninsular Malaysia in the next general election.

Warisan information chief Datuk Awang Ahmad Sah said the claims made by some news portals and on social media platforms were “totally untrue”.

He noted that party president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal had during an online discussion with the Concorde Club comprising senior journalists said that the party was prepared to allow the yet-to-be registered Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) to contest on its ticket.

“It does not mean Warisan is contesting all seats in Peninsular Malaysia,” Awang Ahmad said in a statement yesterday.

He added that Shafie did not specify how many seats or which constituencies the party would be contesting.

“This matter is still under consideration and discussions will be held at the central level,” he said.

He explained that Shafie’s remarks about contesting in Peninsular Malaysia were a spontaneous response during the Concorde Club session recently.

However, Awang Ahmad said he regretted that many people, especially social media users, were spread untruths that the party was going to contest all seats in the peninsula.

“These people are trying to confuse the people by posting that on social media,” he said.

During the Concorde Club session, Shafie, who is Semporna MP and former Sabah chief minister, said they were scheduled to formally launch Warisan in the peninsula this year.
