A resident of west suburban Berkeley died Monday night after a car crash on the 1300 block of Willow Road in Winnetka, police said.
The woman was identified as Darlene Kerber, 61, according to a Cook County medical examiner’s office spokeswoman.
The crash occurred between Forest Way and Hibbard Road at approximately 7 p.m., police said. Kerber was driving eastbound on Willow Road in a small SUV and struck a sedan driving west on Willow Road.
After fire department personnel extricated both drivers from their cars, Kerber was transported to Evanston Hospital and was later pronounced dead, police said.
The second driver, a 22-year-old woman, was transported to Evanston’s St. Francis Hospital. Dep. Police Chief Brian O’Connell did not release the name of the second driver.

A third car was heading east on Willow Road at the time of impact with debris from both cars striking the third car. That driver did not sustain any injuries, O’Connell said.
An investigation was ongoing regarding the cause of the crash.
“At this time we do not have reason to believe that this incident is alcohol related,” O’Connell said.
Police have not received safety-related concerns about the area, which is near Duke Childs Field and the village’s public works facility, O’Connell said.
