YONG PENG: A chicken coop at a poultry breeding company at Mukim Chaah near here was gutted in a fire on Tuesday (March 2).

       Yong Peng Fire and Rescue station chief Asyraf Nur Mohd Yusoff Mohtar said it received an emergency call regarding the fire at around 7.16am.

       "Seventeen firemen, one Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) vehicle, an Emergency Medical Response Services (EMRS) vehicle and a water tanker he were deployed to the scene," he said in a statement.

       Asyraf said the chicken coop was empty at the time of the fire as it was being cleaned.

       "The fire damaged 80% of the 15.24m by 91.44m (50ft by 300ft) chicken coop," he said.

       Asyraf added the cause and the losses suffered were still under investigation.

       The fire was put out around 10.10am.
