JOHOR BARU: The Johor Pakatan Harapan (PH) Leadership Council has appointed Perling assemblyman Liew Chin Tong as the new Johor State Assembly opposition leader.
The appointment was notified via a joint statement issued by Johor PH chairman Aminolhuda Hassan, Johor PKR chief Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh, and Johor DAP deputy chief Teo Nie Ching.
In the statement issued on Sunday (April 10), the state Pakatan Harapan said that the decision to appoint Liew was made at their council meeting in Muar on Friday (April 8).
“A letter of notification will be submitted to the state assembly’s clerk office today," it added.
“We hope the state government will officially recognise the opposition chief post in the state assembly, introduce more select committees and appoint an opposition assemblyman as the chairman of the state assembly Public Accounts Committee (PAC),” they also said.
